This is my now month long daily routine and may seem weird at first but is really good, I put the greens in for a highly potent calcium fix. Kale's calcium is highly bio-usable. I learned this through a class that I am taking but also can see the result in my fingernails, toenails and hair. I also put in a scoop of brewers yeast and spirulina (blue/green algae). You can't taste the bitterness because the base of the smoothie is mixed fruit and a banana. And yes the kids love it, they think it is a treat. There is no dairy added. Sometimes I pour in some cherry juice concentrate or blueberries for an extra kick of anti-oxidants. Yum to the tum.

If my kids don't get anything else healthy the rest of the day, I atleast know they had a power packed vitamin rich nutrient dense breakfast! Hooray for green smoothies!

Here is the so called recipe. You can add what ever fruit tickles your fancy but I find that the costco brand of "rainbow" fruit tastes very good. I put the frozen fruit in first and just rinse with water to soften a little, about half way up, then add a banana and water (about 1 cup) cherry juice concentrate or any real juice concentrate, 1 tsp of brewers yeast found at the health food store in the bulk foods section, 1-2 tsp. of spirulina also found at the health food store in the supplements section, then last add greens. 1-2 cups of spinach or kale or spring greens. blend and enjoy.
